Electronic visa services will be made available to Bangladeshi passport holders who are going to Thailand, according to a decision made by the government of Thailand.
Beginning in the beginning of the next year, travelers from Bangladesh will be able to make use of this service.
During a meeting that took place not too long ago, Ambassador Worawoot Pongprapant, who is the Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, revealed this information with a delegation from the Embassy of Bangladesh. The mission was headed by the ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok, once the electronic visa system is implemented, individuals who have a Bangladeshi passport will be able to submit an application for a Thai visa online from the comfort of their own homes.
There are already 69 Thai embassies located across the world that have already implemented this service.
Additionally, the director-general noted that beginning on December 19, 2024, official passport holders of both nations would be eligible to get visa waivers.
It is on that day that the corresponding agreement, which was signed in Bangkok in April of 2024, will become effective.
Specifically, since 2018, bearers of diplomatic passports have been exempt from the need to get a visa.
Pongprapant, the Ambassador of Bangladesh, recommended that Bangladeshi citizens who are interested in receiving long-term medical treatment in Thailand submit an application for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).
In addition to covering the attendee’s visa, the DTV is valid for a period of five years, with each entrance lasting for a period of six months. In this particular scenario, the Thai Immigration officials will not need a letter of recommendation from the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok in order to extend the visa.
In a statement, the director general of Thailand said that it has been discovered that certain Bangladeshi applicants have provided papers that are either fictitious or forged along with their visa applications, which has caused a delay in the processing of visas.
In addition, the Director General said that if this pattern persisted, the Thai authorities would be obligated to place the relevant applicants on a blacklist. Applicants were cautioned by him to take cautious in this area, particularly when applying via an agency.
Bangladeshi Thai e-visa application.
Beginning on the 24th of December, the Thai Embassy in Dhaka will no longer accept applications via its four visa application centers.
Through the implementation of its e-visa service, Thailand is making travel easier for Bangladeshis by making the process of applying for a visa more easy and time-efficient.
On Monday, the Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka issued a statement announcing that the electronic visa service would be made available to Bangladeshis on January 2nd.
It was stated that beginning on December 19, those who have official passports from Bangladesh would be excluded from the necessity to get a visa.
On the internet https://www.thaievisa.go.th, applicants will be able to fill out the application and upload the relevant papers without having to send their passports. You may access the website here.
The approved visa will be delivered to the applicant by e-mail under this new procedure. The applicant is required to print out the visa and submit it to the Thai immigration officials before entering the country.
It is not possible for applicants in Bangladesh to pay the visa fee directly on the website for the electronic visa because of specific technological constraints or restrictions.
Following the submission of the application, the system will produce a payment information summary page. This sheet will include the application reference number, the QR code, and the amount of the visa fee.
Candidates are required to submit the payment information summary sheet and transfer the money to the bank account of the Thai embassy using the website https://www.combank.net.bd/thaievisa. This is done for verification purposes. Financial institutions will not accept payments made in cash.
In most cases, the processing time for electronic visas is up to ten business days. On the website, you can find comprehensive instructions on how to submit an application for an electronic visa to Thailand.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Dhaka will cease accepting applications via the four visa application centers beginning on December 24 in order to be ready for the new electronic visa system, according to the statement and the further information.
